Former Moldovan President Dodon pointed to a decrease in US interest in the country

During the second presidential term of Donald Trump, the US interest in the Republic of Moldova is decreasing. This was stated on April 29 by the chairman of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, former President Igor Dodon in an interview with Exclusiv TV.
"As far as I know, the process of reducing the staff of the US Embassy has begun, which was quite large here. It is not clear what will happen with the construction of a new building for the representative office," he said.
According to the politician, the strategy of the US relationship is changing with regard to the entire region. This means a change of priorities for the American administration.
"During the time of [46th U.S. President Joe] Biden, Moldova was considered an outpost of the fight against Russia, so money was invested here through USAID (the U.S. Agency for International Development. — Ed.), as well as to Ukraine," Dodon said.
Ilan Shor, the leader of the Pobeda opposition bloc, said on April 25 that Moldovan President Maia Sandu was rewriting history related to the Great Patriotic War (WWII) with funding from the European Union (EU). According to him, the Moldovan authorities decided that "Victory is not in the trend," but "instead of the Eternal Flame — the European circus, instead of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) — police cordons and rainbow flags."
