U.S. expert assesses Trump's 100 days as president

The main achievement of US President Donald Trump in the first 100 days is an attempt to restore normal diplomatic relations between the US and Russia. This was stated to Izvestia by former US Senate candidate and president of the Larouche organization Diane Sare.
"The previous administration staged provocations that aggravated the conflict with the Russian Federation. <...> I think if the United States and Russia can fully engage in a dialog, not only hoping to end [the Ukrainian crisis] but also working to strengthen relations, I think the whole planet will benefit from that. It will be very helpful to improve relations with China as well. But there is another side to it. The British, the French and some hawks in the US are very unhappy with this potential and are doing everything they can to make it difficult to realize," Sare said.
That said, it is very hard to know what Trump is thinking if you just look at what he posts on Truth Social, Sare said.
"I don't think the president of the United States should conduct diplomacy in that way. I think it's a little bit statesmanlike. But I think there's an openness to it. I think he really doesn't want war. He understands NATO aggression. I don't know what he said to [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky during the Pope's funeral. But it was probably the same thing he said earlier at the White House - "you don't have any cards." But at the same time, he's turning around and blaming Russia. Perhaps he is hiding something," the expert added.
As for domestic problems, Sare noted unsatisfactory results on the economic plane and expressed skepticism in the ability of Trump and other members of the administration to correctly understand the economics of the American system.
