The US State Department has approved the sale of a $1.33 billion arms package to Poland, which includes 400 AIM-120D air-to-air missiles. This was announced on April 29 by the Pentagon's Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

"The State Department has decided to approve the possible foreign military sale to the Polish government of improved AIM-120D medium-range air—to-air missiles and related logistics and program support elements for an estimated cost of $1.33 billion," the department said.

It is specified that as part of the deal, Poland will also receive missile containers and auxiliary equipment, general equipment for reprogramming embedded ammunition tests, spare parts and repair parts, consumables, accessories and other technologies necessary for the operation of missiles.

"This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security of the United States by enhancing the security of a NATO ally that is a force for political and economic stability in Europe," the DSCA noted.

On April 29, the German newspaper Bild reported that US President Donald Trump was blocking the transfer of American Abrams tanks to Ukraine by the Australian authorities. In October 2024, Australia promised to transfer 49 M1A1 Abrams combat tanks to Ukraine as part of a €164 million military assistance package. However, the weapons systems "are still awaiting final approval for shipment abroad," the newspaper writes.
