The authorities of Transbaikalia offered to ambush the arsonists of the forest

The head of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Alexander Osipov, criticized the work of patrols to catch grass and forest arsonists. He suggested ambushing intruders, the press service of the regional government reported on Tuesday, April 29.
"We have not caught any of these intruders. Those who do this have never been caught, which means that our patrols are ineffective. It is necessary to be technically better equipped, to arrange ambushes," the governor said, quoted by the ChitaMedia news agency.
According to Osipov, so far all the work on detaining the arsonists leaves a feeling of impunity.
The head of the region also mentioned that locals often talk about deliberate arson of forests, since many fires cannot be explained by the need for mowing or something else. What is happening resembles prepared and planned actions, he added.
A day earlier, it was reported that Rinat Khismatulin, head of the Department of Civil Defense and Fire Safety, resigned in Transbaikalia at the height of the fires. His deputy temporarily headed the department.
