Trump has declared his desire to be elected Pope

US President Donald Trump said on April 29 that he would not mind being elected as the new pope.
"Dad? I would like to be the pope. That would be my number one choice," Trump replied to a question from reporters.
He further added that, in fact, he has no preferences about the candidacy of the future pontiff. But he noted that it could be a certain cardinal from New York, who is "very good."
"So we'll see," the American leader concluded.
Pope Francis died at the age of 89 on the morning of April 21 as a result of a cerebral stroke. He last appeared in public on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica during Easter celebrations on April 20. As previously reported, the pontiff has been struggling with bilateral pneumonia for a long time.
The conclave to select a new pope will meet on May 7. 135 cardinals under the age of 80 from around the world can take part in the conclave.
