The United Kingdom authorities intend to achieve a "victory" over Russia in order to compensate for the failures and crisis in their own country's economy. This was announced on April 29 by British journalist John Miller on the social network X (Ex.Twitter).

"Trying to understand the UK's maddening policy in Ukraine. There is a school of thought that explains it this way. The British economy is in such a terrible state. Their only hope is to defeat Russia. And plunder the loot," he wrote.

According to the journalist, the UK "took a wrong turn" 15 years ago. By their actions, the authorities have turned Russia into an enemy rather than the energy security ally it could have been.

"And now the United States is withdrawing from Europe, we continue to follow the same self-destructive path that their policy initially led us to. It's too late to pay back the damage. But it's not too late to fix it. Europe must change course," Miller urged.

On the same day, The Telegraph newspaper reported that the British military, if deployed in Ukraine, would train Ukrainian military personnel, but would not participate in hostilities.

On April 24, the British newspaper The Times noted that in the "coalition of the willing," Britain and France had weakened their commitment to sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine. It was clarified that the initiative to deploy troops belongs to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron. Paris and London expressed concerns that Moscow might perceive this initiative as a unilateral measure and reject it.
