- The BRICS Foreign Ministers expressed hope for a peace agreement on the conflict in Ukraine

The Foreign Ministers of the BRICS countries expressed hope for achieving a sustainable peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This is evidenced by the declaration on the BRICS website on April 29.
"The Ministers recalled their national positions on the conflict in Ukraine <... > They expressed the hope that the current efforts will lead to a sustainable peaceful settlement," the statement said.
In addition, the foreign ministers called for the restoration of arms control, as well as strengthening the nuclear non-proliferation regime. Press conferences on the results of the BRICS Ministerial Council were held in Rio de Janeiro from April 28 to 29.
Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the BRICS countries held in Brazil, Russia's principled approaches related to the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict were outlined in detail. He stressed that Moscow regularly informs the BRICS partners about the progress of negotiations with Washington. Lavrov noted that the Russian Federation stands for an honest, equal dialogue aimed at creating a balance of interests.
