Russian artists performed military songs as part of the Victory Music project

Russian artists performed legendary musical compositions about the Great Patriotic War as part of the Victory Music project. A correspondent of Izvestia told about his program on April 29.

The aim of the project is to preserve the memory of the exploits of Soviet soldiers. According to Igor Matvienko, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, every musical composition contains a story and drama.

Singer Zara performed the song "For the rest of my life." She noted that the lyrics of the wartime songs "are already somewhere inside." In her opinion, they have become a "genetic code" despite people's musical preferences.

For the leader of the Uma2rman group, Vladimir Kristovsky, war is not an empty phrase. His grandfather came from the battlefield with the Order of the Red Star.

"He was wounded in the bombing of the airfield and returned from the war with such a wounded leg," the musician emphasized.

The war also affected the family of the leader of the Lube group, Nikolai Rastorguev. He knows about that time in great detail.

"Uncle Kolya is dead. He was born in 1924. He died in 1943," Rastorguev said.

Many musical compositions of those years were created under bullets. In four years, 42 thousand artists have joined the frontline concerts. Now, military songs of that era are performed by musicians who perform for military personnel in the special military operation zone.

The Music of Victory project is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Recorded musical compositions by the artists can be heard on popular platforms and major radio stations. The funds raised from the project will be used to support veterans of the Great Patriotic War and participants in the special operation.
