Andrey Koshkin, head of the Department of Political Analysis and Socio-Psychological Processes at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and an expert at the Association of Military Political Scientists, assessed the likely reaction of Western countries to the truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the 80th anniversary of the Victory.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, April 29, the expert pointed out that the US team led by Donald Trump has changed its approach to the Ukrainian crisis. This, in turn, allowed Russia to look for approaches that would help move towards a sustainable world.

Koshkin expressed confidence that the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, "is now calling, coordinating everything with the leaders of Britain and France."

"They're trying to react somehow. On the one hand, they declare that they want to come to a settlement of the conflict, but on the other hand, they are delaying this process," the expert noted.

According to him, Western countries are trying to stay in the context of American proposals, publicly declaring the need to support them, but in practice they are doing everything just to "gloss over" the issue and prolong the conflict.

"Now, again, in Europe, everything is moving towards the fact that Western states are calling for total armament, for preparations for some kind of war against Russia, but this is clearly preparation for World War III," the political scientist said.

He added that this is extremely dangerous, and the UN cannot do anything about it, since it is "an organization biased by the demands of the Western world."
