Roskachestvo warned about the widespread risks of poisoning during the May holidays

During the period of kebabs and festive feasts during the May holidays, there is often a sharp increase in cases of food poisoning, which can negatively affect health. This was announced to Izvestia on April 29 by Elena Specenko, Director of the Center for Food Safety Competencies.

According to her, the main danger of the May holidays lies in a combination of several factors: seasonal warming, mass trips to nature and weakening of control over food storage and cooking conditions. At the same time, the greatest threat is a violation of the temperature regime of the products. Meat products, poultry, salads with mayonnaise dressing and dairy products deteriorate especially quickly.

Also, just a few hours outside the refrigerator may be enough for the development of pathogenic microflora in the product.

"Hygienic aspects during field trips are often overlooked. Lack of access to clean water leads to people neglecting hand washing, using the same dishes for raw meat and prepared foods, and eating unwashed vegetables and fruits. It is also risky to drink water from untested natural sources, which may contain pathogens of intestinal infections," Specsenko explained.

It is noted that several key rules should be followed to reduce the risk of poisoning. Picnic food must be transported in thermos bags or cooling containers. Perishable dishes should be prepared immediately before use, not in advance. For shish kebab, it is important to choose fresh meat, marinate it thoroughly and roast it well. In nature, you must have a supply of clean water and hand soap.

In addition, at the first signs of poisoning, it is important to take immediate action: take sorbents and drink more water. If the symptoms persist or worsen, you should immediately contact a medical facility.

On April 23, it was reported that in Yekaterinburg, after complaints about mass poisoning of children at a local school, a criminal case was opened for violating sanitary and epidemiological rules.
