The actor lived with blood cancer for 30 years. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1995. Subsequently, he suffered from chronic lymphocytic leukemia twice. According to the singer, if the disease had not been treated, he could have died within two months. He also noted that it was music that had supported his life since his last diagnosis.
