It is important for Russia and the United States to be friends, not to oppose each other. On April 29, American director Oliver Stone told Izvestia about this after speaking at the federal educational marathon "Knowledge. The first ones."

"I was just talking about US-Russian relations and how important it is that we be friends and not confront each other," he said.

According to the director, there is a difference between former US President Joe Biden and the head of the United States, Donald Trump. They have different approaches. Trump is, first of all, a businessman, so he has an open mind. He has never opposed Russia.

"Back in 2016, during his first term, he was literally destroyed by the Democratic Party for his openness towards Russia, and he paid the price for it — there was an attempt to impeach him," Stone said.

At the moment, when Trump became president again, he sees a more open picture, things as they really are. The director also expressed the hope that relations between Russia and the United States will improve.

Earlier, on April 3, Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, called the dialogue between the Russian Federation and the United States important. According to him, it is about ensuring a safe world for all.
