At the meeting of the foreign ministers of the BRICS countries held in Brazil, Russia's principled approaches related to the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict were outlined in detail. This was announced on April 29 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"We have once again outlined in detail our principled approaches to resolving this conflict by eliminating the causes of its occurrence," he said.

According to him, the reasons were attempts to expand NATO eastward up to the Russian borders, and the desire to absorb Ukraine into the North Atlantic Alliance, which would contribute to creating threats to the security of the Russian Federation.

Lavrov also stated the need to stop the Kiev regime's practice of eliminating everything related to Russia, including language, culture, Russian media, and the canonical Orthodox Church. According to the minister, most of the participants, commenting on the situation with Ukraine, showed understanding of the approaches of the Russian Federation aimed at resolving the conflict. Lavrov noted that Russia will continue this work.

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that Moscow regularly informs the BRICS partners about the progress of negotiations with Washington. Information is transmitted through ambassadors. Lavrov noted that the Russian Federation stands for an honest, equal dialogue aimed at creating a balance of interests.

The minister expressed the hope that in the near future there will be confirmation that Moscow and Washington have a mutual interest. Russia will continue to establish contacts with the United States, but the country will not do this to the detriment of its partners.

On April 29, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that no response had been received from Kiev regarding direct negotiations with Russia. According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that the country is ready to start negotiations without any preconditions.
