Kaliningrad Avtotor Plant has announced the launch of a new line of compact electric vehicles under the Eonyx brand. It will include two models. An experimental batch is currently being produced, technologies and engineering solutions are being worked out to adapt basic equipment to the Russian market, the company said in a statement received by Izvestia on April 29.

A presentation will be held in the second quarter of this year, at which the recommended prices for both models will be announced. The first copies of electric vehicles are produced on one of the lines in the experimental production workshop of Avtotor.

"The new vehicle models belong to the L7 category and are aimed at use in urban services, delivery services, industrial areas, airports. Eco-friendly compact electric vehicles have great potential for use in recreational areas, park farms, on the territories of hotels, sanatorium—resort complexes,"Avtotor said in a statement.

In 2025, the production of Eonyx electric cars is planned to be established at a new plant, which is being prepared for launch as part of a cluster project for the production of electric vehicles and automotive components under a special investment contract. The design capacity of the compact electric vehicle plant is up to 50,000 units per year. Electric cars are being adapted for operation in the Russian Federation, are being certified, and are included in a deep localization program (parts, including critical ones, will be produced at enterprises in the automotive components cluster). The cars will be equipped with power plants manufactured by Avtotor.

In addition, Avtotor announced that it is continuing the project to create an electric car on a technologically independent Russian platform, which is being developed jointly with the Moscow Polytechnic Institute. The pilot production is also planned to be launched in 2025. The A1 electric car will be presented under the Amberauto brand. A complex of technological tests of individual components and structural elements is currently underway.

On March 17, Alexander Sorokin, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Avtotor Holding, announced that the L7 electric car developed in Russia had reached the pre-production stage. The compact electric vehicle is designed for use in urban environments and is aimed at students, young families, urban services, carsharing and delivery services.
