A third of Russians believe that pets have a positive effect on their personal lives — they help them find a soulmate and get closer to their partner. In addition, some people have met someone at least once thanks to a pet: on a walk, at a veterinary clinic or in a community of interests. On April 30, analysts of the dating service VK Dating and the festival of friendship with pets "Paws" told Izvestia about this.

It turned out that 17% of respondents are ready to give up a relationship if their partner does not accept their pet or treats him badly, and 40% in this case will think about breaking up, but first they will try to find a compromise. The choice in favor of a pet prevails among women — 69% versus 49% among men.

Almost a third of the respondents (27%) are annoyed when their significant other pays too much attention to the pet to the detriment of the relationship. At the same time, respondents criticize overprotection of a pet or constant conversations about it (23% each). Another 12% are repelled if a partner intervenes in animal care issues.

"Respondents have different opinions about the idea of giving a partner a pet. 21% of Russians believe that this is a bad idea, 43% are of the opinion that such a gift should be discussed first, and 17% called a pet a great gift. At the same time, men would be more pleased than women with such a surprise (22% versus 10%)," the analysts noted.

It also turned out that the majority of Russians do not argue about who should take care of a pet that has not appeared in a couple: 66% of respondents believe that a partner can help with caring for their animal only at will. At the same time, 18% are convinced that both should take care of a pet, even if one of the partners had the animal before the relationship. 53% of women demand unconditional acceptance of their animal by their partner, among men this figure is 39%.

VK was reminded that on May 24 and 25, the Lapki Festival of friendship with pets will be held in Khodynskoye Pole Park. It will bring together owners and lovers of pets, pets and their owners. The event is organized by VK and the city portal mos.ru . The event is held as part of the "Summer in Moscow" project. Participation in the festival is free of charge, upon prior registration.

On April 29, analysts at Postbank told Izvestia that Russians were spending more money on their pets. It turned out that Russians increased spending on pet products by 34%. At the same time, the number of transactions also increased by 28%, and the average receipt increased by 5%, to 731 rubles.
