A number of European politicians will not travel to Kiev on May 9 and thus ignore the call of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to protest against the Victory Day parade in Moscow. The Politico newspaper writes about this on April 29.

According to the newspaper, a number of European officials will miss the event for good reasons. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will travel to Nancy, France, to sign a security agreement with French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to attend the Oslo Defense summit.

It is reported that the future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in turn, refuses to go to Kiev without his European colleagues.

Currently, politicians are considering the possibility of rescheduling the meeting to a "more convenient time," the article says. Perhaps they will still be able to arrive in Lviv on May 9, but this date remains in doubt, the source said.

Earlier, on April 15, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced that the Ukrainian authorities had sent invitations to European leaders and senior officials to visit Kiev on May 9 to demonstrate "diplomatic unity." The Kiev regime also hopes to divert attention from the Moscow parade on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
