US President Donald Trump said he was trying to help Ukraine prevent an imminent collapse. An interview with him was published on April 29 by Atlantic magazine.

"I can really say that I was very good because I'm saving this country. <...> I think I'm doing a great service to Ukraine. I believe in it," the American leader said.

In addition, he noted that he could not guarantee the provision of weapons to Ukraine. At the same time, Trump pointed out the existence of other methods of influence. As an example, the head of the White House cited "weapons with sanctions, weapons with banking."

On April 27, the American leader announced that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was ready to abandon his claims to Crimea. In addition, he stressed that Zelensky had tried to secure additional arms supplies at a meeting in Rome.
