Thailand is the most expensive country for the treatment of diseases among Russian tourists. Its average cost is €402. This was reported to Izvestia by analysts of the online insurance company Luchi on April 30. Experts talked about the prices of treatment for insured tourists.

Tourists most often go to medical institutions with acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, sinusitis (22.05%). At the same time, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract account for 20.53%, injuries — 19.01%.

"The average cost is high due to expensive hospitalizations due to injuries requiring surgery. And this, in turn, is due to affordable bike rentals, alcohol, and illegal substances," the experts explained.

In second place are the countries of the Middle East — Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel. This destination is popular among tourists due to its favorable climate, location, infrastructure and the availability of direct flights from Russia. The average cost of treating the disease here is €395. The most frequent cases are: acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, sinusitis (45.45%); gastrointestinal diseases (10.91%); diseases of internal organs (10.91%).

India, Sri Lanka, and China are in third place. The average cost of treatment in these countries is €366. The most common diseases are acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, sinusitis (31.58%); gastrointestinal problems (24.56%). They also often come to medical institutions with injuries (19.3%).

"A large percentage of requests are for the digestive tract, as the local cuisine and water are very different from the usual for Russian tourists. When visiting these countries, be sure to put medications for intestinal disorders in your first-aid kit. Drink exclusively bottled water to reduce the risk of diseases," the analysts explained.

In addition, the insurance company noted that in Georgia the average cost of treatment is €304. Common problems faced by tourists include acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, sinusitis (25.86%), and injuries (24.14%). Dentists are consulted in 15.52% of cases.

"The average cost is higher than other groups of countries, as there are many relocants and with long-term policies, the likelihood of more "expensive" diseases is higher. Gastrointestinal diseases are less popular here (10.35%) than in other areas due to the usual food," the experts said.

However, the average cost of treatment in Europe is €265. Tourists are more likely to suffer from acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, sinusitis (36.51%). Injuries account for 24.14%, and problems with the genitourinary system account for 9.53%.

"Until 2022, the proportion of "injuries" was higher among appeals across Europe, due to open borders and high demand from Russian tourists for ski resorts. Also, the average cost of treatment in this area was significantly higher due to the greater flow of tourists and, in general, expensive and difficult-to—access medicine," the experts added.

Earlier, on April 29, it was reported that in June, the demand for holidays abroad increased among tourists with children. This follows from the data of the OneTwoTrip travel planning service. Russians have become more interested in visiting Rome ― the Italian capital will attract five times as many travelers in the first summer month.
