The court recovered 420 thousand rubles from Ebidoebi according to the claim of Instasamka

The Moscow Arbitration Court has recovered 420 thousand rubles from the Ebidoebi sushi and roll delivery network according to the claim of the Instasamka singer (real name is Daria Zoteeva) for using the reworked lyrics of the song "For money yes" in advertising without the consent of the artist. This was announced on April 29 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

The reason for filing the lawsuit was videos posted by "Fuck You" on social networks — in them, the heroine in the image of an Instasamka accepts food from a courier and parodies the singer.

Initially, the artist demanded that the company delete the publication and pay her 3 million rubles as compensation for the illegal use of the song, as well as 150 thousand rubles for lawyers and 97.4 thousand rubles for expenses.

The final compensation to the plaintiff amounted to 300 thousand rubles, another 120 thousand rubles will be spent on reimbursement of court costs and payment of state duty. The plaintiffs refused non-property claims.

Ebidoebi, in turn, informed Izvestia that they did not agree with the court's decision on the singer's claim and intended to appeal it. The company stressed that they consider the parody of the Instagram track to be a creative statement that does not violate copyrights.

Earlier, on April 7, 2023, the Arbitration court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory ordered Ebidoebi to change its name. The reason for this decision was the finding of the name in the public domain and the likely association with profanity.

In December last year, after much litigation, the network finally changed its corporate name to legal entity. It was noted that the company's name caused massive complaints from Russians. The owners agreed to change the name only after explanatory conversations warning about the consequences of non-compliance with the law.
