Five individuals of the bustard of the eastern subspecies were spotted in the Alkhanai National Park in the Trans-Baikal Territory. The birds were discovered by the director of the institution Maxim Sukach during a raid, the press service of the national park reported on Tuesday, April 29.

Birds appeared in the Saliya area near the village of Krasnoyarovo. Over the years, the number of these birds in the park ranged from two to 13 individuals, writes ChitaMedia news agency.

The bustard is listed in the Red Book of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and in the Red Books of many countries, including Russia, as a vulnerable species.

Earlier in April, it was reported that a new species of avifauna had been discovered in the territory of the Alkhanai National Park. A white-tailed eagle, listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation, appeared there.
