- The Fuyuan-Khabarovsk International Sailing Regatta will be held at the Russian-Chinese Forum

As part of the Russian-Chinese Forum, which will be held in Khabarovsk on May 19-20, the Fuyuan-Khabarovsk international sailing regatta will be held, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of twinning relations between the Khabarovsk Territory and Heilongjiang Province. The operator of the Forum is the Roscongress Foundation.
"Sport and culture are the universal languages of interstate interaction, contributing to the strengthening of mutual understanding between peoples. International regattas have been held for ten years as part of the Roscongress Foundation events. They contribute to the formation of collaborative work models in a competitive environment and changing external conditions. During the competition, Russian and Chinese athletes traditionally demonstrate a high level of coherence and mutual understanding. I am convinced that such a format of cooperation can serve as an example for the business circles of the two countries, contributing to the development of partnerships in the economic sphere," said Igor Pavlov, First Deputy Director of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Eastern Economic Forum.
The regatta starts on May 18 in Fuyuan city. 12 cruising yachts will enter the race. Each team will include three Russians and one Chinese athlete. The yachtsmen will cross the Amur River from Fuyuan to the Brosko Mall shopping center, and then finish at the Lenin Stadium in Khabarovsk. A solemn meeting of the crews will also take place on May 18.
"The Fuyuan-Khabarovsk Sailing Regatta will be an important event within the framework of the Russian-Chinese Forum. First of all, the event is aimed at strengthening friendly relations, developing cultural exchange and improving cooperation in the field of sports between Russia and China. And, of course, the regatta will help increase the popularity of sailing among the youth and the population of the region," said Dmitry Chikunov, Minister of Sports of the Khabarovsk Territory.
The first cruising yacht competitions in the Khabarovsk Territory were held back in the late 70s of the last century. Since that time, competitions have been organized regularly. The previous international regatta with the participation of Russian and Chinese yachtsmen took place in the capital of the region in 2017.
More than 30 thematic platforms, business and cultural events dedicated to cooperation between the two countries in various areas will be organized within the framework of the Russian-Chinese Forum in Khabarovsk. The forum is expected to bring together more than a thousand representatives of business, government agencies and creative industries.
The Russian-Chinese Forum is organized by the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, JSC Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, VEB.RF.
