Five Ukrainian Armed Forces militants were sentenced to up to 16 years for crimes in the Kursk region.

A military court has sentenced five militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to terms ranging from 15 to 16 years in prison for crimes in the Kursk region. This was reported on April 29 on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

"The Second Western District Military Court has handed down a verdict in a criminal case against five servicemen of the 21st separate mechanized brigade of the armed formations of Ukraine <...> They were found guilty under clauses "a" and "b" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("The commission by a group of persons by prior agreement of a terrorist act, which entailed the onset of grave consequences"), — stated in the message.

It is specified that the defendants illegally invaded the territory of the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region in order to carry out terrorist activities, as well as block and hold settlements. In addition, they intimidated the local population and prevented evacuation.

On April 22, a court sentenced four Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters to up to 16 years in prison for invading the Kursk region. It was clarified that in 2024, the Ukrainian military repeatedly crossed the border of the Russian Federation in the Korenevsky, Sudzhansky and Glushkovsky districts of the region.
