In Tallinn, Soviet symbols — sickle, hammer and anchor — were dismantled from the facade of the building of the Center of Russian Culture. This was announced by the Postimees newspaper on April 29.

"This morning, on April 29, the city of Tallinn completes the dismantling of the Soviet decorative coat of arms from the facade of the Center of Russian Culture. The basis for the work was the coalition agreement and the conclusion on the assessment of structural safety," the publication says.

The publication noted that the removal of symbols from the facade of the building at the address was justified by a technical examination, which allegedly confirmed the need to remove the architectural detail for security reasons. According to the report, the coat of arms located at the top of the building is in worse condition than expected and poses a potential threat.

The massive concrete composition was removed and placed in the central part of the main facade of the building of the Center of Russian Culture. It consists of a five-pointed star, an anchor and flags. During the dismantling, which began on April 21, the decoration cracked. The building itself was built in 1951-1954.

On April 2, the Russian Embassy in Estonia announced the destruction by the staff of the Estonian Military Museum of monuments dedicated to Soviet sailors, soldiers, and officers who liberated the republic from Nazi invaders at the Tallinn Military Cemetery.
