The court sentenced up to 14 years to the defendants in the case of the preparation of explosions in Melitopol.

The court sentenced five Ukrainians to 11 to 14 years for preparing a terrorist attack in Melitopol in the Zaporizhia region in 2022. This was announced on April 29 by the press service of the Southern District Military Court.

"The verdict was announced in the criminal case against Igor Yurievich Gorlov, Andrey Yurievich Golubev, Alexander Anatolyevich Zhukov, Vladimir Alexandrovich Zuev and Yuri Anatolyevich Petrov, accused of committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 205.4, Part 1 of Article 30 and Part 1 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the statement said. The investigation established that the defendants were voluntarily engaged in terrorist activities in Melitopol. They purchased and stored firearms, ammunition, explosive devices and explosives.

In addition, the defendants planned to commit a terrorist act. So, they hid explosives in the car, which they wanted to activate near one of the places where humanitarian aid was distributed to residents of the city.

The terrorist attack was stopped by law enforcement officers. The defendants were found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for up to 14 years: Gorlov — 14 years, Golubev — 12 years, Zhukov — 12 years, Zuev — 11 years, Petrov — 14 years in high-security penal colonies. All of them will serve the first 5.5 years in prison.

It is clarified that the verdict has not yet entered into force.

Earlier, on April 28, Anatoly Marmaz, a militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), was sentenced to 16 years in prison for using weapons against civilians in the village of Olgovka in the Kursk region. He mined roads and prevented the evacuation of civilians.
