The allergy season in Moscow is coming to an end. This was announced by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand in the press center of the Izvestia Research Center during a press conference.

According to him, specialists at the hydrometeorological center are dealing with the problem of allergens.

"This year, the first allergenic flowering is alder. This year it bloomed back in January [...]. This March and April have contributed to the rapid regrowth of all trees. This year, the most important allergen is birch. Very rapid flowering, rapid pollination. In addition, the situation is similar — the birch tree has moved further south," the forecaster noted.

He added that this year the air masses brought pollen from other regions, which is why there was such a violent reaction from allergy sufferers. However, the expert reassured Muscovites: the birch tree will soon stop blooming.

However, in May, residents of the capital suffering from allergies need to be prepared: an oak tree will begin to bloom. However, Wilfand said that he doesn't have that effect on people.

In addition, wild grass will affect allergy sufferers in June, and poplar fluff, on the contrary, does not pose a threat.

Earlier, on April 24, internist, district physician of JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), Candidate of Medical Sciences Oksana Serebryakova told Izvestia about dangerous spring diseases. The specialist calls allergic reactions one of the main problems of spring. Flowering plants provoke hay fever, which affects 80% of allergy sufferers. Allergies are manifested by a runny nose, lacrimation, and sneezing attacks. Pollen is particularly dangerous for asthmatics, as it can cause bronchospasms.
