In the Vladimir region, on 111 km of the federal highway M-8 "Kholmogory", a 56-year-old driver of an intercity bus traveling from Izborsk to Kostroma with 55 passengers in the cabin, drove off the road and overturned. After the collision, both vehicles slid into a ditch. One of the bus passengers was killed in the accident, seven more (all citizens of Belarus) and the truck driver were hospitalized. Three more passengers on the bus were sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical attention.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urges truck and bus drivers to strictly observe traffic rules and driving discipline. Truck drivers should correctly assess the inertia of the car depending on speed and load, its dimensions, condition and width of the roadway, take into account the terrain and the possibility of skidding. It is also necessary to take into account the density of traffic flow, dimensions and speed in your own, and most importantly, in oncoming lanes. Do not create accidents on the road. Avoid risky driving, overtaking and other dangerous maneuvers. Remember that not only your own life and health are in your hands, but also the lives of other road users, and in the case of passenger transportation by buses, the lives and health of passengers in public and intercity vehicles, which depend on your discipline, well—being and driving experience.
"Motorists should take into account the requirements of markings, road signs and traffic lights. People driving should take special care when approaching pedestrian crossings, slowing down in front of them until they come to a complete stop in order to allow pedestrians crossing the roadway. It must be remembered that the behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, so do not rush to resume traffic, even if the traffic light allows you to do so, until you are sure that the crossing is completely free of pedestrians," Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia told Izvestia. Police Colonel Anton Belan.
In addition, the State Traffic Inspectorate strongly recommends that drivers be especially collected and careful when driving near schools, kindergartens and other educational or sports organizations. There is a high probability of children suddenly appearing on the road, especially in the morning and evening. When approaching such facilities, motorists should also reduce their speed as much as possible in order to be able to stop the vehicle in case of a sudden change in the road situation.
Earlier today it became known that at least 18 tourists from Russia and the driver were injured after the bus took off from the highway in the Turkish province of Antalya.
