The number of ticks in the Krasnoyarsk Territory exceeds the safe level by 30 times

The number of bite cases increased in 2025, and in some regions the tick population immediately increased by 30 times. This was reported by Izvestia correspondent Vladislav Tamoshauskas on April 29.

"The spring Forest is a place of high risk. There are millions of small hunters operating in the taiga right now. It is almost impossible to notice a tick in dense vegetation. It is safe to walk among the trees except in an airtight suit," Tamoshauskas said.

According to the correspondent, the norms of parasite activity in the Krasnoyarsk Territory have been exceeded 30 times due to the abnormally hot spring. The ticks came out of suspended animation almost a month ahead of schedule.

"According to the latest data, the number of ticks at checkpoints reached 172 individuals per square kilometer, with an epidemiologically safe level of 0.5," said Elena Yurtayeva, deputy head of the information support department of the Rospotrebnadzor Office for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Ticks are carriers of deadly diseases. The most severe of them is tick—borne encephalitis. It is a virus that can cause severe neurological complications, including paralysis. The incidence of MI in the Krasnoyarsk Territory is 9 times higher than the national average.

According to experts, the peak of tick activity is still ahead. Therefore, the queues at the laboratory will only increase every day, and the highest demand for such medical services is expected during the May holidays.

Earlier, on April 29, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported that more than 29.8 thousand Russians had suffered from tick bites since the beginning of the season. They added that there is currently a tendency for the increase in cases of bites of these insects, which is characteristic of the spring epidemic period. At the same time, residents of the Sverdlovsk, Kemerovo, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Moscow and Tomsk regions most often applied to medical institutions because of the bites of bloodsuckers.
