Congressman Wilson, in an interview with pranksters, called for Ukraine's accession to NATO

On April 29, Russian prank journalists Vovan (Vladimir Kuznetsov) and Lexus (Alexey Stolyarov) presented a prank with Joe Wilson, a member of the US House of Representatives, in which he advocated Ukraine's accession to NATO.

During the conversation with Wilson, the pranksters introduced themselves as the former president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko (who is part of an association that is included in the register of terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation). Their goal was to find out whether the congressman's rhetoric had changed after statements by the administration of US President Donald Trump about the need for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.

During the conversation, Vovan and Lexus reminded Wilson that the American leader does not support Ukraine's accession to NATO. The congressman did not agree with this decision.

"In fact, we could never have imagined that Sweden would give up 200 years of neutrality to become part of NATO," he said.

In addition, Wilson emphasized the support of Kiev from the US president through the supply of weapons and the shutdown of the Nord Stream 2 project. The congressman described Trump as a "billionaire president" who has the art of making deals, and noted that his actions are sometimes difficult to follow logic.

In addition, Wilson spoke out against holding elections in Ukraine, noting that the country's Constitution clearly defines the conditions for voting. He also gave examples from history when the electoral process was not conducted in conditions of armed conflict.

The congressman also shared information about his work with the Georgian protests. He said that thanks to his efforts, former Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili was able to attend Trump's inauguration, where she had the opportunity to "talk to the right people."

"I participated in this. Members of the Helsinki Commission also invited her to the inauguration. I was very grateful that we were able to meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. We were able to meet with the [US] Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth," Wilson said.

In October 2024, Vovan and Lexus called and played a prank on former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on behalf of Poroshenko. During the conversation, Pompeo stated that the United States was unwilling to allow Ukraine to do what was necessary to achieve victory in the conflict. He also made statements that it was necessary to convince Russians to return to the European model and move away from the Asian one, and called for the ousting of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine.
