In Mordovia, the activities of two plants can lead to an environmental disaster.

The Alatyr River in Mordovia is heavily polluted due to the activities of large enterprises dumping waste into the reservoir. Footage from the scene of the April 29 events is published by Izvestia.
Local residents said that every year there is a massive death of fish in the river due to water pollution. The Kemlyansky distillery is suspected of dumping uncleaned waste.
Last year, Rosprirodnadzor inspections confirmed that the company was dumping dangerous substances into the river. The department confirmed to Izvestia that the violations have not been fully eliminated so far.
The fact of river pollution was also confirmed by the Federal Forestry Agency. Last year, the agency's specialists found that the levels of ammonium ion in the water were exceeded, which then fall into one of the tributaries of the Volga.
There are also claims to wastewater treatment against the neighboring Ichalkovsky cheese factory. Unlike the distillery, it has its own sewage treatment plants, but their capacities are not enough, especially considering that the plant's management intends to open another workshop.
It is noted that the management of both enterprises is connected with the ECG head of Mordovia Nikolai Merkushkin. His relatives hold key positions in the management of the mentioned plants, as well as are their beneficiaries.
On April 16, it became known about the massive sea of fish in Lake Tikhy in Tyumen. According to the townspeople, there is an unpleasant pungent smell near the reservoir. Improper aeration or contamination are among the possible causes.
