China has expressed support for Russia's initiative to establish a truce in Ukraine on the 80th anniversary of the Victory. This was announced on April 29 by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun.

"China supports all efforts aimed at establishing peace," he said at a briefing.

The diplomat added that China hopes that the parties to the conflict will continue to make efforts to find a peace agreement.

On April 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a truce in the days of the 80th anniversary of the Victory. It was specified that the Russian side would ensure a cease-fire from zero hours from 7 to 8 May to zero hours from 10 to 11 May.

Later, the Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Rodion Miroshnik, said that by declaring a truce during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, Russia was sending an important signal to other states. According to him, Moscow is demonstrating a constructive approach to solving the crisis and at the same time points to Kiev's inability to negotiate.
