AvtoVAZ aims to start assembling Lada in Iran

AvtoVAZ intends to start assembling Lada cars in Iran and expects to open a dealership there. This was stated by the head of the company Maxim Sokolov.

"In principle, it is necessary to do a localization project in Iran, to assemble our cars. This will give certain competitive advantages <...> Therefore, we are betting heavily on the Iranian direction and expect that our dealership will open there soon," Sokolov was quoted by TASS as saying at the Innoprom exhibition. According to the top manager, a potential partner from Iran is interested in the entire Lada product line, including the new Iskra model. He noted that it is "one step ahead" of the majority of cars currently sold in Iran and built on its own platforms.

Also during the exhibition, Sokolov said that in 2025 AvtoVAZ plans to export more than 30 thousand Lada cars, which is at least 43% more than in 2024. He named the markets of Iran, Kazakhstan and Vietnam among the important areas for the company, Prime reports. Last week, AvtoVAZ opened its first dealership in the United Arab Emirates, with potential sales estimated at dozens of cars per year. By the end of 2024, AvtoVAZ increased the volume of car exports four times (more than 21 thousand units).

The day before, AvtoVAZ revealed technical details about the Lada e-Aura electric sedan. The company said that this model was developed to demonstrate the company's capabilities in the field of electric transport and modern technologies, it is designed to show the potential for brand development.

On April 19, AvtoVAZ launched production of the Lada Iskra model at the Tolyatti plant and shared the details of the new product's equipment. It will be available in three body styles: sedan, station wagon and Cross-wagon with black unpainted plastic elements on the body.
