Stocks of unsold new cars in the Russian Federation were estimated at 500 thousand units.

According to the results of the first three months of 2025, the stocks of new passenger cars in warehouses in Russia remained virtually unchanged and amounted to about 500 thousand units. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel.

In the first quarter, sales of new passenger cars in the Russian Federation amounted to 247 thousand units, during the same period 256 thousand new cars were imported into the country.

"As it was estimated at the beginning of the year in the region of 500 thousand, it has remained so. 300-350 thousand are Chinese brands. And 150-200 thousand Russian, pseudo-Russian, Belarusian, pseudo-Korean, global alternative and so on," the analyst wrote.

The expert called the disposal of cars from 2023-2024 and the appearance of "fresh" cars in 2025 a positive moment.

Earlier, on April 18, Daniil Shkurygin, commercial director of <url>, said that sales of passenger cars in Russia in the first quarter of 2025 showed a significant decrease — by 26% year-on-year. The main factor was a sharp reduction in car loans, he said.

On April 15, it was reported that about a third of Chinese brands in Russia increased their discounts on new cars in the amount of 70-100 thousand rubles to keep up with demand. Some brands offer discounts of 5-10% on cars manufactured in 2024, and for unclaimed equipment the discount can reach 15-20%.
