In Donbass and Novorossiya, the planned restoration of damaged energy facilities is underway, and today there is an increase in energy consumption. This was stated to Izvestia by Nikolai Shulginov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy.

"In Donbas and Novorossiya, the planned restoration of damaged energy facilities is underway, which are necessary for the economic development of these regions. The money has already been allocated, energy consumption is growing in new regions, residential buildings are being built there, and economies are recovering," Nikolai Shulginov said.

Against this background, it is noteworthy that since the beginning of the year in Russia, energy consumption has decreased everywhere except in the South of Russia and the Far East. The head of the committee also touched upon the situation in the Kursk region, which was liberated from the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the eve of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The 330 kV backbone lines and substations are already in working order there. At the same time, as for distribution networks, they will be restored as settlements are surveyed, cleared of mines and residents return to them, the minister said.

Earlier, on April 14, the Russian government approved the energy strategy until 2050. It determines the development of the fuel and energy complex in the context of global challenges, energy transition, the introduction of digital technologies, technological change in general, as well as growing energy consumption.
