Russian diplomats were not invited to events dedicated to the liberation of Denmark during World War II. This was announced on April 29 at the Russian Embassy in Copenhagen.

"In Denmark, May 5 is celebrated as a memorable date — the Day of the Liberation of Denmark. Russian diplomats are not invited to commemorative events today," RIA Novosti quoted the diplomatic mission as saying.

The embassy clarified that the Danish authorities do not prevent the holding of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In this regard, the Immortal Regiment march will be held in the center of Copenhagen, as well as a concert at the Russian House. In addition, it is planned to lay flowers at the graves of Red Army soldiers in various regions of Denmark.

The diplomatic mission also announced the creation of a video about Russian ambassadors who defended their country during the Second World War. Many of them, including the heads of the embassy, went to the front as volunteers, and not all returned. In the face of Denmark's hostility towards Russia, they are trying to show the Danes that the Russian people cannot be broken. On May 9, a projection of photographs dedicated to the victory in the Second World War and the triumph of the Soviet people will be organized on the embassy building.

On April 16, Niels–Olaf Luders, a member of the Brandenburg Landtag and head of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (BSW) faction, said that the German Foreign Ministry's call not to invite Russian representatives to commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II was absolutely unacceptable.

At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on the same day that more and more people in various countries of the world see Russia as a guardian and defender of traditional values.
