Power supply has been almost completely restored in Spain after a massive blackout. This was announced on April 29 by the operator of the Spanish electric grid, Red Eléctrica.

"99.16% of the demand [for electricity] on the peninsula has already been restored with the production of 21,265 MW. 100% of the substations of the electric grid are in working order," a statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Red Eléctrica clarified that the data is provided as of 6:00 a.m. local time (7:00 a.m. Moscow time).

A large-scale power outage in Spain and Portugal occurred on April 28. It has affected the operation of public transport, power lines and telephone communications in parts of Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. Later, Spanish and Portuguese media reported that specialists had begun work to restore power supply.

Later, Spanish political scientist Santiago Armesilla spoke about the partial resumption of electricity supply in Spain. By that time, Madrid residents had been without electricity for more than five hours. In other regions, the duration of outages ranged from three to five hours.
