The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation reported on the work on the elimination of fires in Bandar-Abbis

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations aviation, consisting of two Be-200ChS and IL-76 aircraft, continues to assist in eliminating the consequences of a large fire at the Shahid Rajai seaport in Bandar Abbas, Iran. This was reported to Izvestia by the ministry on Tuesday, April 29.

It is specified that during the work, 13 discharges were carried out with a total volume of about 130 tons of water.

The decision to send special aircraft to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation was made by the Russian side after a corresponding appeal from the Iranian partners to Vladimir Putin.

The incident at the Shahid Rajai seaport occurred on April 26. The explosion caused damage to most buildings, as well as cars. On April 27, the Governor of Hormozgan, Mohammad Ashuri, declared three days of general mourning in connection with the tragedy. According to The New York Times, the explosion was caused by a substance used to produce rocket fuel. According to the latest data, the death toll from the explosion has increased to 70 people.
