In the Far East, the quality of water and related facilities has significantly decreased. This was announced on Tuesday, April 29, according to the report of the Accounting Chamber (JV) and the relevant departments of the Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories.

"At the same time, the inspection showed that in the period under review, the sanitary quality of water in the water bodies of the Far East deteriorated," the joint venture said in a statement, quoted by TASS.

It is specified that in the period from 2020 to 2024, 17.8 billion rubles were allocated from the state budget for the water bodies of the Far East.

According to the agency, the reason for the poor water quality is the discharge of untreated wastewater.

The report also showed that 429 out of 743 water facilities in the region do not meet safety requirements.

All the audit data was submitted to the Russian Security Council, the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

On April 5, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree approving amendments to the Regulations on Federal State Control in the Field of fisheries and Conservation of Aquatic Biological Resources. One of the most significant changes was the introduction of a special surveillance regime at some water bodies — a permanent raid.
