Western countries, in the process of trying to maintain their leadership on the world stage, do not exclude the risk of nuclear war. This was announced on Tuesday, April 29, by Nikolai Patrushev, Chairman of the Maritime Board and Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation.

"Desperately resisting global changes, Brussels, Berlin, Paris and a number of other European capitals are once again following the shameful path of flirting with the Nazis," he said in an interview with TASS.

According to Patrushev, the West is not only deploying a military machine against Russia, but is also increasingly demonstrating an obsession with the scenario of a "nuclear apocalypse."

In addition, the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation expressed the opinion that London is claiming the Black Sea region, and NATO is conducting exercises during which the possibility of capturing the Kaliningrad region is being worked out.

On April 23, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance announced that the United States could withdraw from negotiations on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine if Washington's proposals were not accepted in Moscow and Kiev. On April 28, he said that in the absence of a settlement, the conflict in Ukraine could lead to a nuclear war.

On March 5, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he intends to discuss the use of nuclear weapons in order to protect the entire European Union (EU). Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the French leader's statement about the Russian threat to Europe confrontational.
