The American company Amazon has launched 27 Project Kuiper satellites into space, which can be used to transmit high-speed Internet from orbit to Earth. This was reported on April 28 by The New York Times (NYT).

"On Monday, the company's first 27 satellites were sent into space. Their journey to the final orbits continues," the newspaper reports.

It is clarified that at the moment, Amazon's main competitor in this area is the company of American billionaire Elon Musk SpaceX, which operates a similar Starlink service.

"Project Kuiper will be a constellation of Internet satellites designed to provide high-speed data connections virtually anywhere on Earth. Thousands of satellites will be required to successfully complete this, and Amazon's goal is to operate more than 3,200 in the coming years," the NYT said.

On April 19, six new Shiyan-27 satellites were launched in northern China's Shanxi Province for space exploration. This was the 570th space flight for the Long March-6 rocket series.
