Russia entered the top five economic leaders in the world in 2024

By the end of 2024, Russia ranked fourth in the top countries in terms of its contribution to the increase in global GDP at purchasing power parity (PPP). This is on Tuesday, April 29, according to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and RIA Novosti's own calculations.

The Russian economy reached a record gross domestic product of 6.94 trillion in PPP terms, and in 2023 this figure was 6.48 trillion.

The People's Republic of China became the leader in the top five countries, with its GDP reaching 38.15 trillion (from 35.5 trillion the year before last). The United States ranks second with 29.2 trillion (27.7 trillion in 2023). India closes the top three: The country's GDP grew to 16.2 trillion from 14.85 trillion.
