Russian ambassador to Switzerland told about blocked assets

There is no dialog between Russia and Switzerland on the issue of unfreezing Russian assets, Russian Ambassador to Switzerland Sergey Garmonin told Izvestia.

The status of the negotiations was significantly lowered due to Kiev's position.

"At present, the issue of illegally blocked Russian assets is not being discussed with the Swiss side. Official Bern takes an openly pro-Kiev position and is fully oriented towards the European Union's decisions, including on the sanctions issue, so there is no reason to expect a constructive approach from the confederation's authorities on this subject," the diplomat told Izvestia.

According to the latest information of the State Secretariat for the Swiss Economy (SECO), the amount of frozen funds of the Russian Federation in the country is about 7.4 billion francs (almost $9 billion).
