The Red Army joined forces with the Allied forces

On May 3, the troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front, continuing their offensive, captured the town of Cieszyn, an important road junction and a strong German defense stronghold, the Izvestia newspaper reports.
On the same day, the soldiers of the 2nd Belorussian Front captured the cities of Barth, Bad Doberan, Neubukov, Varin, Wittenberg and joined the British troops on the Wismar line.
There were exactly 6 days left until the Great Victory.
"Today, on May 3, at 21 o'clock, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 2nd Belorussian Front, who captured these cities, with twelve artillery volleys from one hundred and twenty—four guns," the newspaper writes in the May 4 issue.
The material was published as part of the Izvestia special project "80 days to Victory."
