The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is facing an outbreak of cholera. This was reported by Okapi Radio on Monday, April 28.

Health Minister Roger Kamba said at a meeting of the Council of Ministers that more than 1,100 cases of cholera had been reported over the past week, including 22 deaths. The death rate from this epidemic currently stands at 1.8%, the publication quotes the minister as saying.

At the same time, there has been a significant increase in cases of monkeypox in the country. The number of cases increased by 591 cases in just one week, an increase of more than 40%, the newspaper said.

"Despite the fact that more than 521,000 people have been vaccinated, the disease continues to spread in several provinces," the article says.

On April 26, it became known that the second Russian was diagnosed with cholera. Both residents of the Moscow and Voronezh regions arrived on the same flight from India on April 21.
