A Moscow court has left blogger Lercek and her ex-husband under house arrest.

The Troitskiy District Court of Moscow has left blogger Lerchek (real name — Valeria Chekalin) and her ex-husband Artem Chekalin under house arrest. This was announced on Monday, April 28, by Lercek's lawyer Konstantin Tretyakov.

"Both Valeria and Artyom were excluded from the motivation based on the fact that "they can continue to engage in criminal activity," the rest remains unchanged," he told Izvestia.

As the blogger's lawyer pointed out, this follows from the court's ruling in the first instance.

A criminal case against the blogger and her ex-husband was opened on October 2 last year. The ex-husband and wife, as well as their accomplice, were suspected of illegally withdrawing more than 250 million rubles from Russia to Dubai using forged documents (art. 193.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The Moscow City Court extended the defendants' house arrest until May 24.
