Fetisov pointed to provocations against Ovechkin by Ukrainians in Canada.

Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin was provoked by activists from Ukraine before the National Hockey League (NHL) match, which was held in Canada. This was announced on April 28 by State Duma deputy and two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov.
"The Ukrainian lobbying political history there is very strong. He (Ovechkin. — Ed.) says: "Some girls were dressed up in all these things with banners, like "go home,"" TASS quotes the parliamentarian as saying.
Fetisov clarified that in response he called the hockey player a goodwill ambassador and advised him to tolerate provocations.
Ovechkin updated the record for goals scored in the NHL on April 18. The athlete scored in the away match against Pittsburgh, which ended with a score of 5:2 in favor of the home team. At this game, the hockey player increased the number of goals scored to 897.
On April 6, a Russian hockey player scored his 895th goal in regular NHL games, breaking the "eternal" record of Canadian hockey player Wayne Gretzky. On April 10, the hockey player called the record goal the most important moment of his life.
