The consequences of a large-scale power outage in Spain are beginning to be gradually eliminated. Spanish political analyst Santiago Armesilla told Izvestia about this on April 28.

"There is no electricity in Madrid right now. It has already been restored in some areas of the city. Light has also returned to some regions in the north, south and west of the country, for example, in Castile and Leon. Electricity has not been cut off in the Balearic and Canary Islands," he said.

Madrid residents have been without electricity for more than five hours. In other regions, the duration of outages ranged from three to five hours.

"Electricity is slowly starting to return. Hopefully, there won't be any more blackouts. It affected me: I couldn't go to a family meal," Armesiya said.

According to the expert, such situations show how much modern man is dependent on electricity. He also stressed that the cause of power outages was "in Spain, Portugal and possibly in the south of France."

Large-scale power outages in Spain and Portugal became known earlier in the day. It was clarified that this affected the operation of public transport, power lines and telephone communication in some parts of Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. Later, Spanish and Portuguese media reported that specialists had already begun work on restoring power supply.
