Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Ethiopian counterpart Gideon Timotheos confirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation. This was announced on Monday, April 28, on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation following a meeting of diplomats in Rio de Janeiro.

"There was an unwavering mutual commitment to further expand multidisciplinary bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest," the ministry said in a statement.

It is clarified that Lavrov and Timotheos advocated increasing Russian-Ethiopian contacts in various fields, primarily at the United Nations (UN) and BRICS.

In addition, the diplomats exchanged views on topical issues on the global and regional agenda, the Russian Foreign Ministry added.

"Special attention was paid to the topic of cooperation between Moscow and Addis Ababa in the context of ensuring peace and security in the Horn of Africa region," the Foreign Ministry concluded.

Earlier in the day, Lavrov said that Russia, together with the People's Republic of China (PRC), the BRICS and SCO countries, is at the forefront of the movement for justice and equality. According to him, we will have to live in an era of change for a long time.
