The first tulips bloomed in Moscow. This was announced on Monday, April 28, by the Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.
In total, about 15 million tulips will appear on the capital's streets, embankments, squares, parks and other public spaces, writes RT.
The flower beds were traditionally decorated with several varieties of these flowers: yellow "Strong Gold" with buds in the shape of an elongated glass, purple-red "Apeldorn", white "Royal Virgin", pale pink "Sugar Love".
Specialists are gradually planting flowers in urban flower beds. In April it's viola, and in late May and early June it's annuals, after that it's the turn of flower arrangements from perennials, the Moscow City News Agency reports. Thus, the flowers will delight residents and guests of the capital until late autumn.
On April 27, lawyer Timur Hardy warned that tearing flowers from city flower beds could result in a fine of 500 to 1,000 rubles or arrest for 15 days. Such punishment is provided if you pick flowers and throw them. If you take it with you, then law enforcement officers can draw up a protocol under the article "Petty theft". The punishment provides for 15 days of arrest or a fine of five times the cost of flowers, notes 360.ru .
On April 16, the first magnolias bloomed in the Botanical Garden of the Moscow State University "Aptekarsky Ogorod". There are many species and varieties of magnolia in the collection, and the flowering of the plant can be observed until summer, NSN notes.
