Russian goalkeeper of the Tampa Bay Lightning Andrei Vasilevsky entered the top three contenders for the Vezina Trophy, which is awarded to the best goalkeeper of the National Hockey League (NHL) season. This was announced on April 28 on the league's website.
It is noted that American Connor Hellebike from the Winnipeg Jets and Canadian Darcy Kemper from the Los Angeles Kings are also competing for the award.
"The goalies of the Jets, Kings and Lightning are nominated for the award for the best player in their position," the message says.
Vasilevsky received this award in 2019, he is also the winner of the Stanley Cup in 2020 and 2021 and the 2014 world champion with the Russian national team.
On April 26, the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Florida Panthers in the third match of the first round of the NHL playoffs with a score of 5:1.
