It will be possible to discuss the possibility of extending the truce if it is respected by the Ukrainian side. This was stated by State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova on Monday, April 28.

"It all depends on how the Ukrainian side will behave. If it doesn't stop during the truce, that's one thing, but if the fire stops, as the Americans insist, it's quite another. Someone in Ukraine benefits from the continuation of hostilities," she said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

The parliamentarian stressed that even if the truce does not turn out to be the most successful, the positive thing is that fewer civilians will suffer these days and there will be less destruction.

"Ukraine's partners are gradually pushing it towards peace. But they cannot abruptly end the conflict. Although the people of Ukraine, who have already suffered from this conflict, are also putting pressure on their government," Zhurova concluded.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a truce in the days of the 80th anniversary of Victory from zero hours from 7 to 8 May to zero hours from 10 to 11 May, reports RT. In addition, the Kremlin clarified that the Ukrainian side needs to follow the same example, writes Moscow 24.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the truce dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory is a manifestation of Russia's goodwill, IA Regnum reports.
